Kentuckians are warming to Governor Matt Bevin, according to a recent poll.

Hot off his first legislative session with one-party control in Frankfort, Bevin saw his approval rating hit the 50 percent mark in a survey conducted by media company Morning Consult. It’s a marked improvement over a poll conducted nearly a year ago by the same company, which gave the businessman-turned-politician just a 33 percent positive rating.

On the flip side, the latest numbers show 39 percent of respondents with an unfavorable view of Bevin.

Republican Party of Kentucky spokesman Tres Watson said in a statement that Kentucky voters are “are realizing they made the right choice by electing him Governor.”

Meanwhile, Democratic Party spokesman Daniel Lowry expressed skepticism at Bevin’s rising popularity, telling Spectrum News his group was surprised there are “15 governors more unpopular than Matt Bevin.
