Pics Related To UK Shooting Case Released

UK Police release video stills that could help them identify the suspects who fired shots last night on campus.

University of Kentucky Police were called around 10:00 pm Sunday night after students reported hearing two to three gun shots near the Kirwan/Blanding complex.  UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said the area was put on lock-down and investigators worked the area along with the K-9 unit.  “What we were able to find after we deemed the area safe and went back and re-searched the area, we were able to find an air-soft pistol that was tossed by someone in this group of persons of interest that we’re releasing photos today of.”

Monroe said six possible 'persons of interest' appear in that footage.  “The actual incident was not caught on tape but we do have video footage of individuals on campus in that area as well as what appears to be footage of them trying to ditch the air-soft pistol.” An air-soft pistol looks like any other pistol, but fires pellets as opposed to bullets.

Monroe said they are unsure if the incident was meant to be a prank or if someone was being targeted.  Either way, the department is treating it as a serious crime.  Photos released by police can be seen on wuky.org.  Anyone with information is asked to contact UK Police.
