Lexington, KY – Hundreds of bikers, walkers, and joggers took advantage of the perfect weather on Sunday to officially open Lexington's Legacy Trail.

The $10-million project represents what organizers hope will be a major public asset long after the World Equestrian Games conclude at the Kentucky Horse Park. Bluegrass Community Foundation Director Steve Austin has been responsible for overseeing the venture.

"We don't have anything like this in Lexington. So if you're into biking, and you want to walk a long way, run a long way without having cars around you, come to the Legacy Trail."

When completed, the hike and bike trail will stretch from the Kentucky Horse Park to the Isaac Murphy Memorial Garden in downtown Lexington. Phase one comprises nearly three-quarters of the twelve mile trail.
