No Verdict Yet in Doneghy Murder Trial

By WUKY Staff

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Jurors in the Glen Doneghy murder trial are still considering the man's innocence or guilt in the death of Lexington police officer Bryan Durman. After more than ten hours of deliberation Wednesday, Judge James Ishmael dismissed the jury and told the panel to return at 10:00 Thursday morning.

In her closing testimony, defense attorney Kate Dunn emphasized that Durman was not wearing a reflective vest and was not in a position to protect himself on North Limestone Street as he investigated a noise complaint.

"Officer Durman could have seen the headlights coming toward him. Unless he was involved in something distracted."

Prosecutor Ray Larson told jurors that the defendant seen in court was dramatically cleaned up compared to the night of April 29, 2010.

Collision reconstructionists gave different opinions about what they think happened during the hit and run crash.

The jury must decide if Doneghy is guilty or not guilty of murder, second degree manslaughter, or reckless homicide.
