Nixon Documentary To Be Screened At Kentucky Theatre
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Our Nixon, a film composed of archived footage mostly shot by President Richard Nixon’s three closest aides, will be screened at the Kentucky Theatre Thursday.
The documentary was co-produced by Lexington-based filmmaker and UK law professor Brian Frye and chronicles H.R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, and Dwight Chapin’s experiences working in the ill-fated administration.
While the film is made up entirely of archived materials, Frye says with government secrecy back in the headlines it’s instructive to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Watergate scandal.
"It's interesting to ask whether the Obama administration has looked to the mistakes that the Nixon administration made in formulating its own response to these kinds of leaks," he says.
Our Nixon will play at the Kentucky Theatre Thursday night at 7 as part of a one-time fundraising effort to benefit the theatre’s restoration efforts.
Attendees will also be treated to a post-screening panel discussion featuring Frye and other guests.
