Lexington, KY – Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry says he'd like to see something like Spotlight Lexington come together in the future. To that end, he announced the formation of a 19 member committee to assess the overall impact of the 17 day festival.
"I don't know exactly what the outcome of this group's work may be but I am confident one of the outcomes will be the need to continue to have a festival somewhat along the lines of Spotlight Lexington because it has been an incredible success for our community."
Newberry says the committee is a mix of people from the arts, government, downtown groups, media and business. Spotlight Lexington, designed to accompany the World Equestrian Games, included dozens of free concerts, a parade, food, arts and crafts, kids' activities, and even a fireworks display on closing night.
