There’s one more place in the downtown area to beat the heat. A brand new splash pad has been installed near Thoroughbred Park across the street from the Herald Leader building.
We caught up with Kurt Kreider, one of the pad’s designers who came all the way from Mobile, Alabama to oversee the project. He says the water feature is surprisingly portable.
Kreider says they plan to check the splash pad two to three times per day to make sure it stays hygienic and safe.
Several community groups collaborated and got a grant to install the water feature.
