Natasha's, A La Lucie Closing - With Hopes To Return

bistro.beetnik.com

Changes are coming to Lexington’s downtown restaurant scene as two longtime mainstays are closing their doors – at least for now.

Fans of Natasha’s Bistro and Bar received some unwelcome news this morning as the restaurant and concert venue announced via email that it’s going dark for a couple of weeks while the owners consider “options for the future.” Musicians were notified that shows will be canceled next week, but the email encourages patrons to come enjoy a great weekend lineup of music, a “last waltz” for the business.

Down the road on North Limestone, French eatery a la lucie will say au revoir on November 30, but chef Lucie Meyers expects to open a new incarnation – Lucie at the Red Light – in the same vicinity.

"I'm kind of excited, you know. It's something new and different. I think it'll be fine," she says. "I am going to miss my corner. I've been there 31 years."

The move comes after the sale of the building housing a la lucie. If all goes as planned, Meyers says her next venture will open in March 2016.

WUKY reached out to Natasha’s co-owner Gene Williams, but did not receive a response in time for broadcast.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
