LEXINGTON, Ky. – A central Kentucky non-profit known for helping women get off drugs and turn their lives around is getting an environmental boost thanks to business students at Midway College. Members of the Students in Free Enterprise Club at Midway recently launched a sustainability project to benefit the Chrysalis House Community Center in Lexington.

"The first part of it is to actually replace the water hardware, such as the toilets, possibly the faucets. We have someone with Kentucky American Water coming through Chrysalis House to evaluate the hardware to see what would be more feasible to change, and what we may be able to keep, or may be able to fix or tweak," said Midway graduate student Cheryl Williams.

Williams says other goals include educating Chrysalis House residents and the public about environmentally friendly habits, and providing funding for other energy-saving projects.

The effort is part of a nationwide competition sponsored by Sam's Club, which provided a one thousand dollar grant to get things started.
