A Majority Of Kentuckians Still Oppose Gay Marriage

As Kentucky’s same sex marriage ban goes before the Supreme Court, the majority of the state’s voters remain opposed to the idea of allowing gays and lesbians to marry but the number is dropping.

A latest Bluegrass Poll, conducted for WKYT-TV, the Lexington Herald-Leader, the Louisville Courier-Journal, and WHAS-TV, found 57 percent of Kentuckians are opposed to gay marriage.

The March Bluegrass Poll found opposition to gay marriage is lower than it was in 2004 when voters approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage as only between a man and a woman. A 2004 Bluegrass Poll found opposition at 70 percent.
