Lockheed Martin Bringing 224 More Jobs To Lexington

By Alan Lytle - Cami Stump

Lexington, KY – Global technology company Lockheed Martin is expanding its operations at Bluegrass Station with the help of some 15.4 million in state tax incentives. Lockheed Martin spokesperson Linda Pyfrom says the company's ten year, 26 million dollar investment in the Avon operation will fund a variety of positions.

"It will support production, manufacturing, certainly in the areas of logistics, and so that could be I.T. jobs. So it's really across the board in the types of positions that would be available"

Pyfrom says the incentives will pay for upgrades at existing state-owned facilities that currently are employed in refurbishing military aircraft and vehicles. Much of the new work will be in logistical support for streamlining the shipping and stocking of parts and equipment. She says the bulk of the investment will be made over the next three years and jobs will be added as they go along. Kentucky's bid won out over other sites in North Carolina and Florida.
