LexVegFest returns for a second round this weekend, but organizers say the festival centered around plant-based eating elected to try out a new location.

2016 marked Lexington’s first foray into the world of "vegfests," a trend that’s caught on in many other cities across the country. And organizer Dr. Debora Tallio says the festival's debut drew enough attention to warrant a sequel.

"It was a huge success. We had hundreds of people attend and so, of course, we're very excited to do it again this year," she says.

The 2017 schedule includes: a free yoga session, a cooking demonstration, a variation on TED Talks dubbed “VegTalks,” and one new feature.

"The other interesting thing that we're having this year that is new is we're going to have a booth, and we named it 'Ask a Vegan Dietician' and 'Ask a Vegan Chef,'" Tallio explains. "So we have certified, registered dietician, Danita Hines, and chef Kevin Archer."

For the full lineup of events and presentations, visit the LexVegFest site.

LexVegFest comes to the Unitarian Universalist Church this Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. It is free and open to the public.

Note: WUKY will have a booth at the festival.
