Lexington's St. Patrick's Day Festival Goes International
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities are expanding this year.
Lexington’s St. Paddy’s Day revelers will have one more day this weekend to celebrate the holiday. Events begin at the CentrePointe block at 1 PM Saturday. Highlights include the Alltech St. Patrick’s Day parade at 3 and plenty of traditional food and music. Organizer Liza Hendley-Betz says Sunday will be largely dedicated to the Rose of Tralee personality competition for young women of Irish descent.
"One lucky girl will get picked and she will go to Ireland in May to represent Kentucky in the Rose of Tralee, so it's a pretty big thing. It's the first time this has ever happened," she says.
The Rose of Tralee is a well-known international competition in Ireland.
Saturday’s events run from 1 to 10 PM and Sunday’s festivities go from noon to five.
