Lexington's Central Library Finds Bedbugs

By Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lexington Public Library has begun a new cleaning regimen after two bedbugs were found inside its Central Library.

Spokesman Doug Tattersall says the library is safe for patrons.Tattersall has worked for the library for 11 years and says he's never heard of bedbugs being an issue there in the past.

He said bedbug-sniffing dogs from a pest control company found evidence of bedbugs in "isolated pieces of furniture" on three floors and in some staff areas of the downtown Central Library. The furniture identified by the dogs was immediately removed.

The library has also started a regimen of vacuuming twice a day, and carpet and upholstered furniture throughout the building will be steam cleaned by a company this weekend.
