Lexington Police: More Charges On The Way For Cassidy Twins

Lexington police say more charges are forthcoming in the case of two 76-year-old twins who have been accused of sexual contact with minors.

Officials say they have reason to believe more victims might come forward in the coming days.

According to court documents, Lexington twins Jack and Jerry Cassidy are accused of both possession of child pornography and “indecent or immoral practice with another,” a charge that pre-dates the modern penal code. The crimes are alleged to have spanned decades starting in 1963.

Lexington Police Chief Ronnie Bastin told reporters Thursday it’s unusual for his department to comment on an ongoing Special Victims Unit investigation, but the circumstances of the case warranted an update.

"Following media coverage, we've received numerous calls, tips, emails, and other information about the case. We're continuing to receive information from both victims and witnesses," he said.

Both brothers had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of having unlawful transaction with a minor more than 30 years ago after leading a Lexington Boy Scout troop, but a judge probated the sentences and ordered them to stay away from all youth organizations.

Court documents show the twins have acknowledged the incidents in interviews with authorities. Bastin says the police are working to marshal various counseling services and other resources to help any victims who might choose to file reports.
