Lexington Has 2018 World Equestrian Games In Its Sights
Kentucky is throwing down the gauntlet… specifically Lexington. The city has officially submitted a bid to host the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
The Olympic Style Horse competition took over the Kentucky Horse Park in 2010, and city leaders want to do it all over again. Wellington, Florida apparently wants in on the act as well. Both American cities filled out their applications to the FEI, the Swiss-based governing body.
Also apparently in the running is Bromont/Montreal, Canada.
Finalists will be revealed next month. Each city representative will present proposals in person to the FEI in June and a winner will be determined shortly thereafter.
Normandy, France will host the 2014 games in late summer.
