Lexington Gearing Up For Another Med Toss This Month
LEXINGTON, Ky. – If you’ve got a medicine cabinet full of outdated or unwanted remedies, now would be a good time to clean it out because Lexington is having another Med Toss event later this month.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to come out, drop off some un-needed or un-wanted medications, a chance to protect the environment as well and keep the medications from entering our water stream," said Lieutenant Scott Blakely with Lexington Police.
Blakely added that citizens who participate could be helping to save a life.
“We often know that a young person’s first experience into narcotics may be medications they obtained in the home accidentally so it’s an opportunity to remove those things from the home…you’ll do a wonderful thing for the community and we would like everyone to come out and participate.”
Kentucky American Water President Cheryl Norton says the utility’s headquarters on Richmond Road will again serve as one drop off point. Other locations include Milward Funeral Home on Trent Boulevard, Dunbar High School on Man ‘O War, and the Hamburg Wal-Mart on Grey Lag Way.
The event will be held rain or shine from 9am to 3pm on Saturday April 27th. Additional information is available at LexCall 3-1-1.
