Lexington Community Agencies Serving Up Thanksgiving Meals
By Meghan Quigley - Alan Lytle
Lexington, Ky – Major Debra Ashcraft, with Lexington's Salvation Army says hundreds of volunteers will serve meals at the Army's headquarters on West Main Street beginning at noon.
The Lexington Rescue Mission hosts its 8th annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Broadway Christian Church on North Broadway beginning at 5.
Spokesperson Laura Connell says the mission served up 500 meals last Thanksgiving, and an even larger crowd is anticipated this year.
Ginny Ramsey with The Catholic Action Center, says her group will host a Thanksgiving Day Meal from 5 to 6:30 at The New Greater Soul Deliverance Tabernacle Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard. She says the Center could use quite a few more volunteers and it would be even better if they brought some food with them.
The Catholic Action Center served about 700 people last year and Ramsey says they hope to have enough food to feed a thousand this Thanksgiving.
