Lexington Cable Resolutions Tabled

The Urban County Council tabled two resolutions Thursday that would deny transfer of local cable assets from Time Warner to Comcast and Charter Communications.  Introduced in response to TWC's poor customer service, the resolutions were meant to give Lexington negotiating power as it drew up a new cable franchise agreement.  According to Vice Mayor Linda Gorton, that effort has borne fruit.

“Since that first reading, the negotiating team has been called back to the table and has met with Time Warner Cable again, as well as Comcast and Charter, and we have made some progress,” she said.

Gorton said additional meetings between the city and cable companies have already been scheduled.  The resolutions themselves won’t return to the council docket until November 13th
