Les Misérables To Lead Off UK Opera Theatre Season
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Opera buffs can look forward to Mozart, a popular musical recently adapted to film, and a new version of an audience favorite during the University of Kentucky’s Opera Theatre’s 2013-14 season.
Fans of the Oscar-winning film version of Les Misérables will get a chance to see musical live this October when the UK Opera Theatre launches its new season.
"We will be one of the first universities in the country to present the full Broadway production of Les Misérables and this happened because of our success with Phantom of the Opera last year," says Theatre director Everett McCorvey.
McCorvey was on hand for the announcement of the season’s lineup Thursday. Les Misérables will be followed by Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the 22nd edition of “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!” The first two shows will be presented at the Lexington Opera House and the third will come to UK’s Singletary Center. Season tickets will go on sale April 25th, with single tickets becoming available September 3rd.
