iPads To Be Used In Oregon Special Election

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

Some Oregon residents are voting in a special primary today to replace a U.S. representative who resigned after a scandal. And some of those voters won't be filling out paper forms or using traditional voting machines. Today's last word in business is iPad voting. To try to make voting more accessible, election workers are taking the tablets to places like nursing homes and community centers. Voters will be able to enlarge the font size, tap their selection and print out a completed ballot. Oregon is believed to be the first state to try iPad voting. And Apple donated the devices to try it out. And that's the business news on MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
