Kynect Expanding Capacity
While the federal government races to meet deadlines for repairing healthcare.gov, Kentucky’s health insurance exchange is receiving a boost.
Gov. Steve Beshear said he expected families to begin discussing health care options over the long holiday weekend – and to start helping their relatives navigate the Kynect site.
With that in mind, website designers reviewed systems to ensure that they could handle a surge in traffic. Starting Monday, Kynect can boast an 80 percent increase in capacity thanks to more servers in the core infrastructure and other improvements.
Two months after its debut, more than 60,000 users have signed on for health insurance through Kynect. Over 48,500 of those have enrolled in Medicaid plans. Among those who have enrolled in private plans, just over 40 percent are under 35.
