While it’s been full speed ahead for the Republican-controlled Senate in this 2015 session, the Democratic-led House has yet to vote on any legislation. But chamber leadership is promising action when lawmakers return in February.
In just four days, the Senate managed to move on four of its top legislative priorities – passing an anti-heroin bill, along with measures relating to right-to-work policies, abortion, and administrative regulations. But the House plans to begin filling up the Senate’s inbox come February 3.
"We're going to start moving on things like minimum wage, which is part of the House agenda. Domestic violence should be ready to go by that time, and hopefully we'll have some hearings on the pension reform bill," Stumbo told cn|2.
He says he also anticipates hearings on a statewide anti-smoking law and his own bill to legalize medical marijuana. So far, heroin is the only issue that both chamber’s leaders appear confident will be addressed this session.
