KSP Trooper Killed In Crash

A Kentucky State Police trooper has been killed in the line of duty while responding to a reckless driving complaint.

A spokesperson with the Kentucky State Police says 23-year-old Eric Chrisman died in a collision with a tractor-trailer Tuesday.  Chrisman was traveling westbound on U.S. 62 near Grand Rivers when his police cruiser crossed into the eastbound lanes and into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer, 53-year-old Richard Burnham Jr. of Benton, was treated at Marshall County Hospital and released.

Chrisman graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy this past January and is originally from Lawrenceburg.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
