KSP Deputies Kill Murder Suspect

Lex-18

Kentucky State Police say sheriff's deputies killed a murder suspect who had shot at them.

State police Trooper Lloyd Cochran says in a statement that 57-year-old Paul E. Dolen of Monticello had two handguns and a rifle when he was shot by Wayne County deputies on Friday night. Detectives believe Dolen had fatally shot his wife, 55-year-old Sandra D. Dolen, and a cousin, 62-year-old Russell F. Dolen. Deputies located Paul Dolen in a barn on the family property. The statement says after Dolen shot at the deputies, they returned fire, killing him.

The three bodies were taken to a medical examiner for autopsies. Cochran says the deputies were not injured.

The races of Dolen and the deputies involved were unavailable. Cochran didn't immediately respond to a message left Sunday.
