Kentucky's GOP Gubernatorial Candidates Debate

Kentucky's leading Republican candidates for governor took part what could be an audition for the general election before one of the country's major conservative advocacy groups.

Americans for Prosperity is co-sponsoring the debate at Western Kentucky University just three weeks before the Republican primary. Candidates Matt Bevin, James Comer and Hal Heiner are scheduled to attend. Will T. Scott said he will not participate because he is touring 27 eastern Kentucky coal mining counties.

Americans for Prosperity advocates for "economic freedom" issues, with a focus on taxes, energy and health care. Spokesman Christian Hertenstein said the debate is not an audition for the group's support but said it will help them understand where the candidates stand on important economic issues.
