Kentucky State Police Will Be Out In Full Force This Holiday

If you’re traveling to a destination for your Thanksgiving feast, make sure to follow the rules of the road or it could cost you much more than the price of a turkey dinner.

Kentucky State Police will be participating in the Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period starting at 6:00 tonight and running through Sunday night.

Trooper Josh Brashears says Thanksgiving is a heavily traveled weekend, and officers will be on roads statewide watching for unsafe driving, including impaired driving and safety belt violations.

Last year, eight people were killed in Kentucky traffic crashes during the Thanksgiving weekend. Alcohol was involved in one of the crashes, and three deaths involved people who weren't buckled up.

State police offers a free mobile phone app that provides direct access to weather, road and traffic information as well as text, voice and photo tip capability to report any criminal behavior.
