FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky State Police are taking their message a series of documentary-style short films spotlighting the inner workings of the agency.

The first installment of KSP TV tracks a day in the life of a cadet. The goal of the episode is to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the Kentucky State Police but also to act as a recruiting tool.

"We don't have a big advertising budget, but in this day in age I'm not sure you need a big advertising budget," says KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer. He says the segments will cover a wider range of topics – from the preparation of murder cases to police dogs.

"I think it's part of our job to make sure the public knows what we can do and... things that we can't do, to dispel that whole CSI mentality that's sometimes out there," Brewer says.

Brewer hopes the videos will be released monthly. Viewers can find them on YouTube and through the KSP’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
