Kentucky Schools Win Field Trip Grants

Six schools are receiving help with field trip travel costs through grants from the Kentucky State Parks Foundation.

Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker said in a news release that donations make it possible for the foundation to give many young people their only chance to visit a state park.

The schools are Elliott County Middle School, which visited Carter Caves State Resort Park; Whitley City Elementary in McCreary County, Old Fort Harrod State Park; Seneca High School in Louisville, Natural Bridge State Resort Park; Leatherwood Elementary in Perry County, Jenny Wiley State Resort Park; Williamstown Jr.-Sr. High School in Grant County, Big Bone Lick State Historic Site; and B. Michael Caudill Middle School in Madison County, Carter Caves State Resort Park.

Applications for grants for this school year are being accepted through Feb. 28. For more information, visit http://www.kentuckystateparksfoundation.org/grants/
