LEXINGTON, Ky. – A book filled with recipes made with bourbon and published by the University Press of Kentucky has won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award.
The publisher announced Monday that "The Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook" by Albert W.A. Schmid was named best in the world in the category of cooking with beer, wine or spirits.
Schmid provides recipes in the book ranging from classic Kentucky cocktails such as the mint julep to desserts such as bourbon-pecan cr me brulee with chocolate sauce to steaks with bourbon ginger sauce.
Schmid, of Louisville, has worked as an executive chef and teaches at Sullivan University's National Center for Hospitality Studies.
