Kentucky Baseball Team Garners SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After guiding the Wildcats to a record-setting 41 win regular season, UK Coach Gary Henderson has been named Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year.

In addition, outfielder Austin Cousino was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Year.

Rounding out the awards announced on Tuesday:  LSU outfielder Raph Rhymes captured Player of the Year honors, Mississippi State's Chris Stratton was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year in the SEC, and South Carolina's Michael Roth the Scholar Athlete of the Year.

The Wildcats did not manage to place anyone on the All SEC first team, but pitcher Corey Littrell and catcher Luke Maile were each named to the second squad.

The Wildcats take on Kent State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday in Gary, Indiana.
