Jennifer Lawrence Tops AP Entertainment Poll
Kentucky’s own Jennifer Lawrence has been named Associated Press’ annual Entertainer of the Year, narrowly edging out Miley Cyrus.
The Girl on Fire won the nod by one vote in the survey. Every year, the Associated Press asks newspaper and broadcast members, as well as subscribers, who had the most influence on entertainment and culture.
Out of 70 ballots this year, Lawrence scored 15, while Miley Cyrus earned 14.
The Kentucky native, who began the year with an Academy Award for best actress, fueled a box-office franchise as "The Hunger Games" heroine Katniss Everdeen, and wrapped 2013 with a critically acclaimed performance in "American Hustle" – has charmed fans everywhere with her often candid interviews.
The third most popular vote-getter was not a person, but a service. Netflix garnered 13 votes for altering the TV landscape with its on-demand format and hit original series.
