Isaac Says She Wants Her Old Job Back-Newberry In DC Tomorrow

Lexington, KY – A published report says former Lexington Mayor Theresa Isaac will be a candidate for her old job in 2010. Isaac confirms she sent a letter to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance signifying her intention to run. Isaac was Mayor of Lexington from 2003 to 2006. She was defeated by current Mayor Jim Newberry. To date, Mayor Newberry has not announced whether he will seek a second term. Meanwhile Mayor Newberry will be making a third trip to Washington DC tomorrow. He will be one of about 50 mayors from the U.S. Conference of Mayors at the White House. The group will spend the day in meetings with Obama cabinet secretaries discussing, among other things, distribution of the newly passed economic stimulus package. Yesterday the mayor faced tough questioning from FOX News about Lexington's various infrastructure projects that would be paid for by stimulus dollars.
