Gymnasts Allege Sexual Abuse By USA Team Doctor

Indianapolis Star

Two gymnasts, including a member of the 2000 U.S. women's Olympic team, say they were sexually abused by a former longtime doctor for USA Gymnastics.

Civil lawsuits filed last week in California and Michigan allege that Dr. Larry Nassar sexually groped and fondled them when they were teenagers under the guise of physical therapy. Gymnast, Rachael Denhollander is from Louisville.  She told the Indianapolis Star newspater that she was sexually abused in 2000 when she was a 15-year-old and undergoing treatment with Nassar at Michigan State University, where the doctor is a faculty member.

The second alleged victim is a former Olympian identified as "Jane Doe" in the lawsuit against Nassar, and her attorneys identified her only as a medal-winning member of the team in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Nassar's lawyer, Matthew Borgula, tells The Associated Press that the doctor vehemently denies any wrongdoing.
