Group Has Raised More Than $700,000 For Kentucky Theatre
The volunteer group collecting money to improve and preserve the Kentucky Theatre has released its latest fundraising report.
Friends of the Kentucky Theatre says it has managed to collect $705,600 toward a total goal of $1 M since launching the campaign nearly a year ago.
The figures were released on Tuesday.
Phase one of the effort, which includes the conversion to digital projection and sound is already complete, and phase two, which involves installing new seating, electrical and lighting upgrades, plus new carpet and paint will begin next February.
The Kentucky Theatre is more than 90 years old and is widely considered a cultural icon in the Lexington community.
