FRANKFORT, Ky. - The paternal grandmother of Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has died. According to a statement from Grimes’ office, Thelma Lundergan McHugh passed away Thursday at her home in Jessamine County. She was 92.
McHugh, along with Grimes’ maternal grandmother Elsie Case, was featured in commercials during Grimes’ run for office and became a star on the campaign trail.

Burial and graveside services for McHugh will be held on Tuesday at St. Patrick's cemetery in Maysville.
