Gov. Beshear Names Three Supporters To UK Board of Trustees
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Three longtime supporters of Gov. Steve Beshear will be joining the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees. Beshear has also appointed a celebrated horse trainer to the state Horse Racing Commission.
Among the new UK Board of Trustees members are: James Booth, a Matrix Energy coal executive who donated $100,000 to Beshear’s 2011 inauguration, former newspaper editor for the Courier-Journal David Hawpe, and Angela Edwards, a Louisville lawyer who has served on the Executive Branch Ethics Commission.
The governor appointed all three to six-year terms which will expire in June 2019.
The Lexington Herald-Leader also reports that Beshear named horse trainer D. Wayne Lukas and Dr. James Richardson, to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Two new trustees were also added to the University of Louisville Board.
