Galbraith Says He Has The Signatures To Get On Ballot

By Associated Press

Frankfort, KY – Independent gubernatorial candidate Gatewood Galbraith has collected the 5,000 signatures he needed to be put on the general election ballot in Kentucky.

Galbraith, a Lexington attorney, said Friday that he intends to collect another 5,000 signatures before turning them over to the secretary of state's office to officially enter the race against Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear and Republican nominee David Williams.

Last December, Galbraith filed paperwork declaring his intent to enter the race for governor. Under Kentucky law, independent candidates must also collect at least 5,000 signatures from registered voters to be placed on the ballot.

Galbraith has picked up a few big-name supporters since announcing he will enter the race, including country music star Willie Nelson.
