Funeral Held For Nicholasville Police Officer

Family, friends and hundreds of police officers and emergency workers from across Kentucky filed into Southland Christian Church Tuesday to say good-bye to a fallen officer.

35-year old Burke Rhoads of the Nicholasville Police Department was killed in a car accident last week while he was on his way to a training seminar in Richmond.  Nicholasville Police Chief Barry Waldrop spoke at the service and said Rhoads would only have one request; that his family be taken care of.  “That I know we can do” said Waldrop “You are a part of the biggest and most prestigious family in the United States and family takes care of family without question.  So that’s our promise today.  We got that Burke.”

Rhoads served with the military before joining the Nicholasville Police Department nearly eight years ago.  He is survived by his wife and three children.
