Free Flu Friday Outpacing Previous Year
Officials report that Free Flu Friday is off to a healthy start this year.
The annual event run by the Fayette County Health Department offers free flu shots through 5 PM Friday night. Health Department spokesman Kevin Hall says the event is on track to outstrip last year’s numbers.
"Through the first hour, we had done close to 400 shots, which is quite a bit ahead of last year. Overall last year we did about 1700 shots, so we're really expecting give close to the 2000 mark here in Lexington today," Hall says.
Lexington saw about 340 confirmed cases of the flu last year.
Those wishing to receive a free flu shot can go to lexflucrew.com and fill out an advanced registration form before visiting Imani Family Life Center on Georgetown Road.
