LEXINGTON, Ky. - While UK football coach Mark Stoops may still not have decided on his quarterback of the present, on Friday he may have found his quarterback of the future.  Conner High School junior Drew Barker, a four-star quarterback recruit according to Rivals.com, committed to UK Friday in a ceremony at his high school. The announcement was streamed online by WKYT.com.

Rivals.com ranks Barker as the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the country and No. 153 overall recruit in the class of 2014. He chose UK over South Carolina and Tennessee. His other scholarship offers include Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Purdue, and Vanderbilt.

Barker is the third four-star recruit to commit to UK in the class of 2014. He joins four-star running back Mikel Horton, four-star wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass, three-star defensive end Tymere Dubose, three-star linebacker Dorian Hendrix and three-star tight end Darryl Long in the class. He is the first commitment from outside of Ohio.

None of the verbal commitments are binding until players sign their national letter of intent in February.

Stoops ended his first spring practice at UK without naming a starter at quarterback for the 2013 season. Sophomores Jalen Whitlow, Maxwell Smith and Patrick Towles are competing for the job. Barker would be eligible to compete for UK in the 2014 season.
