Former University of Kentucky board chairman Billy Joe Miles has been charged with rape, sodomy and bribing a witness.
A grand jury indicted the 76-year-old Miles on Tuesday in Daviess County Circuit Court on one count each of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and bribing a witness. The rape allegedly occurred on or about July 2. The person making the allegation isn't identified.
Miles served three terms on the board between 1995 and 2013 and was chairman from September 1999 to September 2002 and chairman pro tem from July 2010 to September 2010.
Arraignment is set for Sept. 26.
