Former KY Teacher Sentenced On Sex Abuse Charge

A former central Kentucky teacher who was charged with sexually abusing students has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The sentence for Edwin Bonet of Radcliff was handed down Tuesday in Hardin Circuit Court. In addition, he will have to register as a sex offender. He pleaded guilty in February to charges of sex abuse, criminal attempt to commit unlawful transaction with a minor, prohibited use of an electronic communication system and tampering with evidence.

Bonet was fired from Central Hardin High School in 2013 after his arrest. He had taught Spanish there since 2000. Victims testified that Bonet violated their trust and took their innocence away.

Bonet's attorney said his client "has deep remorse for his actions."
