Former Blue Grass Airport Director Michael Gobb Dies
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- An investigation is underway, but foul play is not suspected in the death of former Blue Grass Airport Director Michael Gobb whose body was discovered in his apartment on Wednesday.
Gobb stepped down as director of the airport in 2009, following a spending scandal.
He later pled guilty to theft by deception, but was sentenced to probation.
Gobb’s current employer Alan Stein told WKYT TV that he hired Gobb a year and a half ago as a sales executive, to give him a second chance after the scandal.
He says Gobb was on a leave of absence since a car accident earlier this year.
In a statement, Stein said, "Our prayers are with his family and friends at this time of great loss. We will miss our good friend and valued colleague for his professionalism and his ever present smile." Michael Gobb was 50. Funeral arrangements are pending.
