Football Great Jim Brown Gives Local Kids a Pep Talk

By Alan Lytle

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – For almost a century, law enforcement officers have used some of their off-duty time to mentor at risk children through the national Police Activities League.

On Thursday, the Lexington PAL chapter got a visit from hall of fame running back Jim Brown. The Cleveland great was in town as part of the Kentucky pro football hall of fame induction ceremonies. Brown met and talked with dozens of young athletes, and saluted their mentors as well.

Brown was also made an honorary Kentucky Colonel and Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry gave the football legend the key to the city.

The 2010 Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame class includes Paul Hornung, Bill Arnsparger, Joe Jacoby, Gary Shirk, Chris Dishman, and Yeremiah Bell.
