The 'Food For Fines' Program Is Back In Lexington

If you have a parking ticket you’ve been avoiding paying, you can take care of the fine and help someone in need at the same time.

The Lexington Parking Authority announced today that its LEXPARK program will once again run the “Food for Fines” canned food drive.  Here’s how it works.  If you have a parking ticket, donate 10 cans of food and you’ll get $15 off any LEXPARK or Lexington Police issued parking citation. If you have several tickets, bring in more cans to the LEXPARK office at 122 North Broadway and you’ll get $15 credit for every 10 cans.

Parking Authority Executive Director Gary Means said they’ve collected over 16,200 cans of food in the last two years. All the donations will be given to God's Pantry Food Bank. Canned vegetables which are at least 14-15 oz. large and protein items such as canned meat, beans or peanut butter are suggested. Any cans that are damaged or opened won’t be accepted.
