Flights Still Cancelled Or Delayed Across The Country

Flight cancellations and delays caused by a power outage at the Atlanta International Airport that created a ripple-effect for air-travelers across the globe and right here in Lexington.

More than a thousand flights were grounded in Atlanta yesterday when a power outage at the airport brought travel to a halt. Things are back up and running, but officials say it could take a few days before everyone makes it to their destinations. Here in Lexington one incoming and three outgoing flights to Atlanta were cancelled. Mark Burkitt is waiting it out at the Lexington BGA terminal, hoping he’ll fly out today. “My flight has been delayed for a few hours and I just hope I can get out today otherwise I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to catch my connector flight to Quito Equidor. ”

Flights were also cancelled to and from Louisville and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky. The airlines recommend checking your flight status on-line before heading to the airport.
