Firefighter Toy Program Needs You

Lexington FOF

The annual firefighter toy program in Lexington is officially up and running. Lexington Mayor Jim Gray wasn’t able to be there for the toy program kick-off, but he did sent the first toy of the drive, a brand new red fire truck, ringing in the 85th Annual Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters Toy Program.

Firefighter Todd Houston is heading up this year’s program and he credits the community for once again coming through to make it happen.“For the last 84 years, with the help of the Lexington community, we’ve been able to help tens of thousands of kids receive toys that they probably otherwise wouldn’t have received. Each year we’ve reached out to the community for support in this much needed tradition and you always come through. This year we’ve already had two companies step forward. PMM Southland Investments has opened up a space to use as our North Pole and Paul Miller Ford has give us our official toy pickup vehicle.”

You can help by dropping off a new unwrapped toy at any Lexington fire station, you can have a toy drop box placed at your church business or school or you send a cash donation to the Lexington Fire Department.  On Saturday December 17th the families of about 1,000 Lexington kids will be able to shop for toys for their holiday celebrations.
