The committee tasked with redrawing Fayette County Public School’s attendance maps is meeting for first time Tuesday afternoon.
Fayette County will be building three new schools in 2016 and 2017. The plans necessitate another round of redistricting, "which will of course have a ripple effect in the rest of the community. So we completely understand everyone cares about where their kids go to school," says FCPS spokesperson Lisa Deffendall.
The broad-based, 27-member committee will meet for at least the next seven months.
"We'll be sending out updates after each meeting to let people know what happened. We'll be sending out communication in advance of the meetings to let them know what's coming up," Defendall says.
