The Big Blue Nation celebrated into the night after the Wildcats secured a bid to the Final Four.
Fans spilled onto State Street chanting for their beloved Wildcats and hundreds more lined the fence at Bluegrass airport to welcome the team home when their plane landed at Bluegrass airport last night. It’s been quite a turnaround from a few weeks ago when countless fans were voicing their frustrations over losses on social media and sports talk shows across the state, now they’re reveling in a Cats win that puts them just two steps away from another National Championship.
University of Kentucky Police Chief Joe Monroe said fans did burn a few couches on Saturday and 2 people were arrested but compared to the celebrations that took place as the Wildcats advanced to win the championship in 2012, fans have been fairly tame.
This is Kentucky’s 16th Final Four appearance and chance at their ninth NCAA Tournament Title.
